Baltimore bred performer Jermaine ‘Scooter’ Smith has been in the spotlight since the young age of 5. As a child, he enjoyed listening and dancing to music by artists like DMX and Bow Wow. Soon after seeing how much he loved to dance, his mother put him in a Showtime at the Apollo showcase and he won. Fast forward 5 years later, scooter became a triple threat when he added rapping and acting to his career plan… Scooter’s big break in the film world came when he was booked to play 8 year old Donnie in the 2008 film Garden of the Night
As Scooter began to blossom in various areas of talent, his close friend Miles introduced him to Chris Brown. Chris was in search for a second dancer to perform at the Grammys with him. Without having to audition Scooter, he was booked! From there, Scooter performed in Chris’ videos “Kiss Kiss” and “Wall to Wall” alongside his close friend Miles. One day while at rehearsal, Chris took a look at Scooter’s Myspace page and saw a video of scooter rapping. Chris decided that he had to get him signed to Interscope asap. After legendary music executive Jimmi Iovine signed the young star on the spot, the rest was history. Scooter then went on to record his first big hit “Head of My Class.” The urban up-beat song grabbed the attention of hip hop lovers all over. Nowadays, the 15 year old stays busy working on new music. His latest song “I Want You” features Mishon. Scooter is waiting on his time to shine as a recording artist and from the looks of it, it may be really soon. To keep up with Scooter, follow him on twitter @ScooterSmiff.
